Thermalright SB-E, a big, cool beast… better than NH-D14…probably the best air cooler out there!
I’ve had the cooler for 6 weeks now to get a feel for how it works. This thing is really big. It looks like a small car engine radiator. My case cover just BARELY fit back with a small bulge…so now I just keep cover off which looks really good. The fans are very large and at full speed they are extremely LOUD. I only used one of the two provided Thermalright fans as a ‘pull’ fan on a variable speed controller to minimize rpms and noise. In order to fit with my memory I used a standard 120mm fan (Which fit provided clips) from my previous Coolermaster CPU cooler as a ‘push’ fan…You can use the Thermalright fan as an extra case cooling fan if you like, but like I said before these fans are loud at full rpm. The SB-E keeps my Core i7 3770k just a few degrees over ambient and it never gets above 51C benching with Prime. I can easily OC CPU from 3.4 to 4.3G and using Prime the temp still does not exceed 60C. That is really where this cooler exceeds the competition. It is better…
