Not quite what I expected
I purchased this motherboard because I needed a mATX motherboard that could fit into a new case I ordered. I had previously owned an older ATX P67 board which worked well.
This board is overall pretty good. It has four memory slots, room for two graphics cards, and a fair number of USB ports on the back, along with plenty of USB headers on the board itself for expansion cards.
What I don’t like about this board is the overclocking support. I can get my 2500K only up to around 4GHz. If I try to go a whole lot farther I end up running into issues with the power delivery (if I am correct.) Basically if I bump the processor up to let’s say 4.5GHz things run, but the processor gets undervolted and runs at something like 1.6GHz. If I shut off the power management settings in the motherboard the system will just lock up. It gets to the point where it locks up before you can even change the settings in the BIOS. I have to go in and reset the BIOS using the clear CMOS…
